visual artist
CGI, animation, woodworking, stained glass
Michael's love affair with art, Medieval history and technology have all been brewing in him since a very young age. His work has progressed from drawing and painting, sculpture, woodworking, and stained glass, to CGI. He participated in several art shows in Buffalo, NY with collaborator Rich Cherry. You can see a gallery of their works together, from shows such as Artists & Models, Herd About Buffalo and Art on Wheels. Since moving to England, Michael had to leave his workshop behind, and began experimenting with virtual art. Using Z-Brush and Maya, he became completely hooked and has started tutorials with Escape Studios in London and Gnomon School of Visual Arts in Los Angeles. Michael most recently collaborated with composer Emily Kalies; his first CGI premiere was for Sensorium, through The Link Project, on 6 January 2010. The work, Untitled: Nativity of the Minster, won rave reviews and will be re-tooled for the Dublin premiere. Other collaborations include an independent movie based on Lord of the Rings for which Michael is doing the CGI effects, including a complete virtual creature. He also filmed and produced a vidoe for opo-folk singing star Stef Connor, for her song "Silver Dagger." He currently works as a LAN Administrator in the IT sector but is going into digital art full time.
